Leverkusen, 26.10.2020 – The renowned Urban Land Institute (ULI) today honored Leverkusen real estate entrepreneur Tilman Gartmeier (29) with the Young Leadership Award by planting a ginkgo tree in the Neue Bahnstadt Opladen. The founder and Managing Director of Cube Real Estate is developing the Cube Factory 577 urban quarter, the heart of the Neue Bahnstadt Opladen, with his 60-strong team.

Since the first ULI Germany Leadership Award was presented in 2005, the jury prize has established itself as an award for future-oriented, sustainable thinking and action in the real estate industry. In addition to the trophy itself, part of the award is the planting of a ginkgo tree at a location chosen by the award winner. The ginkgo is a symbol of sustainability and is one of the oldest tree species on earth.

Together with the Lord Mayor of the City of Leverkusen, Uwe Richrath, Vera Rottes (Managing Director of nbso GmbH) and the Leadership Award jury chairman, Dr. Markus Wiedenmann (ULI), Tilman Gartmeier planted his ginkgo in front of the headquarters of his company Cube Real Estate in Opladen. The Leverkusen entrepreneur made it clear that this award is the success of an entire team: “I am incredibly proud of my team at Cube Real Estate, who live our philosophy of developing living and working environments with heart and soul every day. We will continue to grow here in Leverkusen and continue our success story.”

Diagonally opposite, on the Cube Factory 577 project site, the foundation and shell construction work for the “student residence” and “owner-occupied apartments” construction phases began today.
