Leverkusen, 11.05.2020 – Start of construction for Cube Factory 577 in Leverkusen-Opladen. Cube Real Estate has now received planning permission to build 258 furnished apartments and 36 furnished shared apartments. Cube Factory 577 is the centerpiece of the Neue Bahnstadt Opladen. The district is being built on the former site of a railroad repair plant. With the building permit that has now been granted, Cube Real Estate is launching the first of five components of the urban quarter, which is directly adjacent to the new campus of Cologne Technical University.

“With Cube Factory 577, we will transform historic industrial culture into an urban quarter for living and working,” says Managing Director Thore Marenbach, delighted with the new milestone in this lighthouse project. Civil engineering work will start in May 2020. In addition to the furnished apartments, Cube Real Estate will construct over 11,000 square meters of office and commercial space, condominiums as well as sports and restaurant space on the 20,000 square meter site by 2022.

For Cube Real Estate, Cube Factory 577 is already the third project that the Leverkusen-based project developer has realized in its entirety in a so-called individual contract award. “We have had very good experience with this strategy with our Düsseldorf project Cube River 342 and with the new construction of the office project “The Square” in Ratingen,” says founder and Managing Director Tilman Gartmeier, explaining the worthwhile alternative to awarding contracts to a general contractor for the construction of the properties. “Although this approach is challenging for us, it makes the processes on our construction sites much more flexible while simultaneously reducing construction costs,” says Gartmeier. To this end, the expanding company intends to further strengthen its workforce, particularly in the areas of technical planning services and project management. “In this way, we are strengthening our expertise and giving our properties an even clearer, unmistakable Cube signature,” says Tilman Gartmeier, looking ahead.
