Cube Bilderveedel: Innovative quarter combines urban production with residential, retail and other commercial uses
In the north of Cologne, more precisely in the Bilderstöckchen district, Cube
Real Estate is currently developing a special neighborhood: an urban quarter that

united. The concept for the quarter is being developed in a dialog-oriented process with local politicians, the neighbourhood and the
city. A pilot project for urban production called “cube co-craft Köln” is being launched for the commercial
uses section of the quarter together with the City of Cologne and the business development agency
Köln.
From the outset, potential users, i.e. companies interested in relocating to the area, are planning
this section of the project and thus their future company headquarters. Another
key section of the quarter will include various residential uses, which
are also urgently needed in Cologne’s urban area.
The currently undeveloped plot is located along Longericher Strasse in
close proximity to the new ICE plant in Cologne Bilderstöckchen and, with an area of
40,000 m², is the largest site in Cube Real Estate’s portfolio to date. An impressive 70,000 square meters of potential gross floor area (GFA) are planned in this construction project

Cube Real Estate purchased the property in June 2020 and has since defined the uses
and the process for developing the quarter with the City of Cologne, politicians and the
neighbourhood.
“We are looking forward to this project in Cologne, where we will be working with companies to plan urban
production. There is currently no generally accepted definition for the
concept of urban production. In the context of our project, urban production stands for
operational structures that are realized in a space-saving manner in a dense, mixed quarter

The cube co-craft in Cologne brings entrepreneurs together to create something new. The cooperative, five-month planning process will start on 18 October 2023 at
. By the beginning of
2024, the entrepreneurs will have held a total of four meetings with
experts, specialist planners and the City of Cologne to develop their optimal space organization and
architecture. All companies that are looking for a new location in Cologne
and want to create spaces that are optimally adapted to their needs can take part: From
production to assembly, manufacturing, workshops, studios and office solutions, everything
is conceivable.
