Leverkusen, 09.06.2021 – Cube Real Estate has acquired an approximately 40,000 square meter site in Bonn on Georg-von-Boeselager Straße & Friedrich-Wöhler-Straße from Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH. The Leverkusen-based real estate developer plans to develop a predominantly commercial quarter at the site. The site in Bonn’s Nordstadt district is currently being used as a research and development location for a subsidiary belonging to the Hydro Group until 31.05.2021.
The site will continue to be used by Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH and the former Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH (in future “Speira GmbH”). “In the medium term, we are planning a district development with a predominantly commercial character at this location,” explains Jean-Marc Fey, Head of Acquisitions, Sales and Project Management at Cube Real Estate. The site is ideally suited for an urban quarter thanks to its infrastructural connections. Bonn city center is just a ten-minute drive away and the city’s university can be reached in 15 minutes.
Cube Real Estate is also working on district concepts that focus on sustainable living and working. “For example, we are thinking about innovative energy supply concepts such as a power-to-gas solution for CO2-neutral energy supply using hydrogen,” explains Georg Codjambopoulo, Managing Director of Cube Easy-E.

The current acquisition is now the second project in Bonn for the Leverkusen-based real estate developer. Cube Real Estate is currently developing Cube Flag Factory 2141, a mixed-use urban quarter on the site of the former Bonn flag factory on Römerstrasse in the Graurheindorf district.
In addition to the seller, Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH, the future tenant Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH (Speira), the Bonn-based architectural firm Schommer, the law firm Loschelder, CMS Hasche Sigle and ECOVIS KSO from Düsseldorf and the brokerage firm Dr. Lübke & Kelber were involved in the current transaction.
